INJURY LEVEL: C4/C5
INJURY DATE: 8/11/15
On August 11, 2015, I was in an accident that left me with a C3/C4 spinal cord injury. I was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where I was told that I would be paralyzed from the neck down and would be on a ventilator. I spent 3 weeks in ICU and 4 week in inpatient rehab. Before leaving the hospital I was able to breath on my own and had regained sensation in my arms and legs. I came to Race to Walk in May of 2016. Since then I have regained some movement in my left foot and strengthened the muscles in my core, arms and wrists. My goal is to continue working to gain as much movement as possible.
I have just completed my senior year at UNCC and will be graduating with a BS in Accounting on May 12, 2017. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family and pets. After graduation, I plan to concentrate on my exercise program while working and planning for graduate school.
